Farm Fresh in Farmingdale, New York, has partnered with Girls Guide for a special farm tour for the 2018-2019 school year.
The group will spend the summer visiting a dozen of the largest and best farms in New York State, including two in Farmingville, the New York metropolitan area.
“Farm Fresh has always been about empowering girls,” said Farm Fresh president and CEO Emily Johnson.
“We’re committed to supporting girls to discover the wonders of farming and the joys of sharing our passion with the world.”
This year’s tour will take place June 25-29 in Farmingfield, where the Farm Fresh Girls are staying at the Farm Fairhouse.
“Our mission is to create a place where girls feel safe, supported and comfortable,” Johnson said.
“The Farm Fresh girls are excited to have a Farm Fresh Girl tour guide guide them on a unique farm tour.”
The tour is scheduled to end June 30.
Farm Fresh’s farm tours have been a staple of Girls Guide tours since the group was founded in 2007.
“For girls who want to explore farms and learn about our farmers and the farm life, this is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about our farm family and its culture,” said Liz Miller, who runs Girls Guide in the area.
The farm tour will include field trips to farms, tour visits with farm employees, and information sessions on a variety of topics.
Girls Guide is also hosting a special Girl Guides Day on May 14.
The day will include a presentation from Farm Fresh founder Liz Miller.
“As a girl growing up, I never dreamed of having the chance to visit a farm and be a part of a farm family,” said Natalie Hockley, a Girl Guides alum and Girl Guides volunteer.
“To be able to do that and to experience that farm life firsthand is truly exciting for me.”
