A farmer’s pet dog has been credited with saving the life of a man from an SUV that had struck him as he was crossing a busy street in China’s Fujian province, local media reported on Saturday.
The accident occurred on Saturday in the city of Hualien in Fujian’s Jiangsu province.
The driver of the SUV had pulled over on the street to cross a pedestrian bridge and had a blood alcohol content (BAC) of 0.095 percent, the People’s Daily reported, citing police.
The incident caused a huge crash, as the SUV crashed into a house, killing the driver and seriously injuring another person, according to the report.
The man’s dog, named Yan, was also involved in the accident, and was also hit, the newspaper said.
It is not clear if the dog’s actions saved the life or not.
The vehicle was not immediately identified by police.
Local media said the dog was in good health, but did not provide any further details.
